1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using FOREWORD (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't install or use the App.
If you're using the App on behalf of another person or entity, you represent that you have authority to bind them to these Terms.
2. The service
FOREWORD is a daily word puzzle game distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. The free version provides one puzzle per day, ad-supported, with limited additional features. FOREWORD+ is an optional auto-renewable subscription that unlocks additional features and removes ads.
3. FOREWORD+ subscription terms
FOREWORD+ is an auto-renewable subscription managed entirely by Apple via your Apple ID. The following terms are required by Apple for auto-renewable in-app purchases:

What FOREWORD+ unlocks
- No ads — the AdMob SDK is never initialized for FOREWORD+ subscribers
- Puzzle Archive — replay any past daily puzzle
- Practice Mode — unlimited additional puzzles
- Extended Stats — deeper history and accuracy breakdowns
- Custom Themes — change the tile color palette
4. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a FOREWORD+ subscription at any time from iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → FOREWORD+. You will continue to have FOREWORD+ access until the end of the current paid period; you will not be charged again.
Apple processes all FOREWORD purchases. Refund requests must be made directly to Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not directly process refunds.
5. License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use one copy of the App on Apple devices that you own or control, for your personal non-commercial enjoyment.
6. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where Apple's standard EULA permits
- Use the App to violate any applicable law or regulation
- Tamper with Game Center scores, manipulate the daily-puzzle index, or otherwise circumvent fair-play mechanisms
- Use the App's IP for unauthorized commercial purposes
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or its content
7. Intellectual property
FOREWORD, the FOREWORD wordmark, the puzzle designs, the bundled puzzle bank, the chain mechanic, the user interface, and all related code and assets are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Use of the App does not grant you any rights in our trademarks or other intellectual property.
The App uses Apple's SF Symbols subject to Apple's SF Symbols license terms, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK subject to Google's AdMob Terms.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Daily puzzle availability depends on Apple's CloudKit, Game Center, and App Store services; we are not responsible for outages or delays in those services.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP; (B) ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR USE OF OUR SERVICES; (C) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICES; OR (D) ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO THE APP. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State in which we are domiciled, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. If you live in a jurisdiction whose consumer protection laws grant you broader rights, those rights are preserved to the extent required by local law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in the App's "What's New" notes when you update to the relevant version. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
