Common questions

Is the puzzle the same for everyone?

Yes. Every player on Earth plays the same FOREWORD on the same UTC day. New puzzle every day at 00:00 UTC.

Why do I see ads but my friend doesn't?

Ads are shown to free-tier players. Your friend likely has a FOREWORD+ subscription, which removes all ads. (For subscribers, the ad SDK is never even loaded — see our privacy policy.)

How do I cancel my FOREWORD+ subscription?

Open iOS Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → FOREWORD+ → Cancel Subscription. You will continue to have FOREWORD+ access until the end of your current paid period.

Can I get a refund?

All FOREWORD purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't process refunds on Apple's behalf.

My streak / score isn't on the leaderboard

Game Center scores require:

• You're signed in to Game Center: iOS Settings → Game Center → toggle on, then sign in with your Apple ID.
• The puzzle was completed today (UTC) and the app could contact iCloud to verify the time. If you were offline at completion, the score is queued and uploads on next launch with a network connection.
• Game Center processing can take up to a minute after submission for the leaderboard view to refresh.

The app didn't recognize a real word as a "discovery"

FOREWORD ships with a curated dictionary of around 95,000 common English words. Discoveries can be 2, 3, 4, or 5+ tiles long — scoring 1, 2, 4, or 10 points respectively. Very rare or specialized words may not register. We expand the dictionary in periodic updates based on player feedback — leaving a review with the word that didn't register is the best way to flag it.

I tapped a tile and nothing happened

All 16 tiles sit on a single board. Tiles stay tappable until every word that needs them has been solved. Solved-word tiles brighten and rise to the top of the board, but you can keep tapping any unlocked tile to spell discovery words (real English words outside the puzzle solution) for bonus points.

How do I play?

Open the kebab menu (three dots in the top right of the play screen) and tap "How to Play." The same tutorial that runs on first launch is available there any time.
